About The Host:
Professor Michael O. West’s educational pursuits include his B.A., in Politics, from Lake Forest College, an A.M./B.A. in Mathematics and, History, at Harvard University, and his Ph.D., from Harvard University
Professor Michael O. West is a professor of African American Studies, History, and African Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. Professor West is the author of The Rise of an African Middle Class: Colonial Zimbabwe, 1890-1965 (2002) and co-edited, with William G. Martin, Out of One, Many Africas: Reconstructing the Study and Meaning of Africa (1999). And he has published broadly in the fields of southern African history, pan-Africanism, African studies, African diaspora studies, and African American studies.
Professor West’s current research centers on the Black Power movement in global perspectives, including a forthcoming book on Kwame Nkrumah and Black Power. Black theology is an integral part of this work.
